Fall 2014 – 5.5 – Design Principles Analysis 1

Assignment:

  1. Connect to the class file server, and download the .pdf document entitled “5.5 – C.R.A.P. Analysis” from the Student Pickup Folder.
  2. Start a new InDesign document with all the default settings, and answer each of the questions in the document using complete sentences.
  3. You must have one complete sentence for each question in each prompt.
  4. You may use any typeface, so long as it is clearly legible. The font size should be 12pt.
  5. Turn on your Document Grid in the View menu, and turn on the Snap to Grid setting.
  6. As you answer these questions, use a new text frame for each question, and leave one square of space between your text frames.
  7. Turn in the document to the appropriate Student Drop Folder on the class file server when complete.

Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the principles of design by re-designing a real-world banner advertisement.

Assignment:

  1. Visit StudentsTempFiles and open “5 – El Torito Banner 2014.pdf” for the assignment instructions.
  2. See the document entitled “CGD1 – El Torito Ad Rubric 2014.pdf” for the exact criteria under which this assignment will be graded. Make sure you have all the elements in the “4” column to ensure you get the highest grade possible!
  3. When you are satisfied that your page layout meets all the assignment requirements, save it with your name in the filename and turn in a copy to the appropriate Student Drop Folder on the class file server.
