Step 3 – Visual Research

As you conduct your online research, keep an eye out for any logos or designs on the websites to get an idea of what kinds of logos other student robotics organizations are using. What kind of shapes, symbols, colors and typefaces are used in robotics logos and materials?

Try doing a Google Image Search for “Robotics Team Logo” and see what you come up with. Seeing what kind of logos other schools’ robotics teams use will aid you in making your own design decisions when it comes time to produce your logo concepts.

Feel free to expand your web search to gather as much information as you can on our own Innovative Technologies Robotics team to aid you in your design decisions. You may wish to, at some point, visit Coach Herrera in Room 203, and ask to see the Robotics Lab in Room 212. The visuals in the room itself can be highly informative to your logo design process. Take pictures with your cell phone or a camera if you see anything you’d like to use in your logo design.

To record what you have gathered in your visual research phase, copy at least five images from web sites that you have visited into the same Illustrator document that you wrote your ten facts about the Innovative Technologies VEX Robotics team in. Please save your work, and turn this document in to Folder Number 32 on the StudentsTempFiles volume.

Feel free to expand your web search to gather as much information as you can on our own Falcon Robotics team to aid you in your design decisions (for example, you might wish to try a Google search for “vex robotics arizona”.

To record what you have learned in your research, open a new Illustrator Web document and write ten facts that you have discovered about the Carl Hayden VEX Robotics team, or about student robotics in general. Please use complete sentences, and save your work before the end of class. Hang on to this document, as we will be using it tomorrow during the Visual Research phase of our Logo Design process.
